Sinhagad Fort

About Sinhagad Fort

Sinhagad Fort, earlier known as Kondhana Fort, stands as a symbol of Maratha valor and sacrifice.

Located about 30 km from Pune, the fort is closely associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the historic battle of 1670, where Tanaji Malusare laid down his life to recapture the fort. The fort features important landmarks such as Tanaji Samadhi, Rajaram Maharaj Samadhi, and ancient gates like Pune Darwaza and Kalyan Darwaza.

Today, Sinhagad is a favorite getaway for trekkers and families, especially during monsoon and winter, known for its cool climate, lush greenery, and local Maharashtrian food like pithla-bhakri and kanda bhaji.
